WHO THEY ARE

Read with Malcolm is a youth literacy initiative founded in 2015 by University of GA Wide Receiver and Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell. The mission of Read with Malcolm is to transform the lives of young students through literacy. The organization’s goals are to introduce book ownership to students in households where reading is not a priority and to improve literacy in schools with below grade-level reading skills.

During his freshman year in college, Malcolm noticed his ability to thrive on the field did not match his success in the classroom and everyday life skills. As a struggling reader he began to tackle this challenge, and through perseverance, books became an avenue for expanding his curiosity, creativity and learning, helping him to reach his full potential. Malcolm graduated in December of 2015 with a Degree in Communications and was drafted by the New England Patriots in May 2016.

THE PROJECT (Photo & Video)

This project was truly one of the most rewarding projects Midlands had ever worked on. The second we met Malcolm we knew how genuine and dedicated he was to his foundation. You could feel the passion as he spoke about his goals and direction of Read With Malcolm. It was truly inspiring. Our goal was to create 2 videos with footage taken from a few different events across BOS & NYC. It was amazing to see the happiness Malcolm brought out in these kids in NYC. Many of the students come from struggling homes and school is the best part of their day. We were lucky to be apart of that and we hope our efforts in this project truly influenced the lives of these children! This project was Produced, Directed, Shot, and edited by The Midlands Team!
